Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bargi Nagar Distt - Jabalpur was established in year 1986. It was started in the building of Madhya Pradesh Irrigation Colony Bargi Nagar, the temporary site. It was shifted to the new building at permanent site in 1993. The vidyalaya is situated on Jabalpur- Bargi Nagar dam road in an area of 30 acres of land. It is about 40Km away from Jabalpur Railway Station and 50.6Km from Dumna Airport.[Click on Link to see the Road Map]
The Vidyalaya has NSS, Scouts & Guides and Jr. Red Cross in units functioning. All four labs – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology & Computer Science are well equipped. Computer Learning Program has been in function for last 12 years. There are 37 multi-media computers in the lab. While one in the library for library work and one for office work, one in each lab, one in staff room with the internet connectivity and LCD projector in Computer Lab and Resource lab.
We have developed a Resource Room to facilitate the subject teachers for class room transaction by using audio & teaching aids etc. The Vidyalaya library has more than 7000 books for students and staff of the Vidyalaya. Its functioning aims at maximum utilization of library books. Games and Sports department is very rich for facilitating five on average at SGFI level. Pace–Setting, Coaching Camps and tournaments are organized every year regularly. Health department (Clinic) is well equipped. Staff Nurse is the in charge of Health club and Jr. Red Cross Unit also. There are other clubs Reader club, Art club, Literacy club, Science club, philately club, Nature club, Sports club & Computer club, Economics Clubs functioning & special Harmony club is to be started from this year. USO G.K. Test, Maths Olympiad, Science Olympiad, Cyber Olympiad are being given due weightage to encourage students’ maximum participation. Career guidance cell is working. Every year students of class X participate in NTSE and appear for Railways test for career. Maximum number of students of class XII appears for PMT, PET, IIT, NDA etc. This year students of class XI will appear for United World College, Pune to study further.
We have established Parents Teachers Council. Meetings of PTC are being conducted regularly on Second Sunday and the parents are informed about the achievements of students in UTs and Terminal Exams. Suggestion box has been placed to know students’ grievances.
The Vidyalaya Museum has been established in year 2004. Mr. M.K. Prajapati (Art Teacher) is the in-charge of this museum. One can see collection of stamps, collection of coins and many other things like pottery, seals, gramophone etc. The creative art of children in items of idols, pictures, models etc. is an extra attraction in S.U.P.W. workshop. Children prepare candle, chalk, idol, phenol, doormat incense sticks under the guidance of Mr. Avinash Shukla. Our office has two LDCs, one store keeper, one UDC & one OS to manage the affairs of official correspondence, Accounts, stock maintenance etc.
